           Afewmorethingsmighthavebeentakenout,butNatáshainsistedonhavingherownway.Shepacked,repacked,pressed,madethebutler’sassistantandPétya—whomshehaddrawnintothebusinessofpacking—pressonthelid,andmadedesperateeffortsherself.

           “That’senough,Natásha,”saidSónya.“Iseeyouwereright,butjusttakeoutthetopone.”

           “Iwon’t!”criedNatásha,withonehandholdingbackthehairthathungoverherperspiringface,whilewiththeothershepresseddownthecarpets.“Nowpress,Pétya!Press,Vasílich,presshard!”shecried.
