           “Only,forGod’ssake,Princessdear,havethemsentawayanddon’tgoouttothem.It’sallatrick,”saidDunyásha,“andwhenYákovAlpátychreturnsletusgetaway...andpleasedon’t...”

           “Whatisatrick?”askedPrincessMaryinsurprise.

           “TheyprobablythinkIamofferingthemthegraintobribethemtoremainhere,whileImyselfgoawayleavingthemtothemercyoftheFrench,”thoughtPrincessMary.“IwillofferthemmonthlyrationsandhousingatourMoscowestate.
