           “Well,Kapitonitch?”saidSeryozha,comingbackrosyandgood-humoredfromhiswalkthedaybeforehisbirthday,andgivinghisovercoattothetalloldhall-porter,whosmileddownatthelittlepersonfromtheheightofhislongfigure.“Well,hasthebandagedclerkbeenheretoday?Didpapaseehim?”

           “Hesawhim.Theminutethechiefsecretarycameout,Iannouncedhim,”saidthehall-porterwithagood-humoredwink.“Here,I’lltakeitoff.”
