           “Well,Ididtry,youknow,”Levinsaidslowlyandunwillingly.“Ican’t!andsothere’snohelpforit.”

           “Butwhycan’tyou?ImustownIcan’tmakeitout.Indifference,incapacityIwon’tadmit;surelyit’snotsimplylaziness?”
