           Levin,whohadlongbeenpossessedbytheideaofreconcilinghisbrothers,atleastinfaceofdeath,hadwrittentohisbrother,SergeyIvanovitch,andhavingreceivedananswerfromhim,hereadthislettertothesickman.SergeyIvanovitchwrotethathecouldnotcomehimself,andintouchingtermshebeggedhisbrother’sforgiveness.
