           Thehall-porterwasdoggedlysilent,butwhenKorneytoldhimheoughttobesentaway,Kapitonitchdarteduptohim,andwavinghishandsinKorney’sface,began:

           “Ohyes,tobesureyou’dnothaveletherin!Aftertenyears’service,andneverawordbutofkindness,andthereyou’dupandsay,‘Beoff,goalong,getawaywithyou!’Ohyes,you’reashrewdoneatpolitics,Idaresay!Youdon’tneedtobetaughthowtoswindlethemaster,andtofilchfurcoats!”

           “Soldier!”saidKorneycontemptuously,andheturnedtothenursewhowascomingin.“Here,whatdoyouthink,MaryaEfimovna:heletherinwithoutawordtoanyone,”Korneysaidaddressingher.“AlexeyAlexandrovitchwillbedownimmediatelyandgointothenursery!”
