           Butwithoutthisoccupation,thelifeofVronskyandofAnna,whowonderedathislossofinterestinit,struckthemasintolerablytediousinanItaliantown.Thepalazzosuddenlyseemedsoobtrusivelyoldanddirty,thespotsonthecurtains,thecracksinthefloors,thebrokenplasteronthecornicesbecamesodisagreeablyobvious,andtheeverlastingsamenessofGolenishtchev,andtheItalianprofessorandtheGermantravelerbecamesowearisome,thattheyhadtomakesomechange.TheyresolvedtogotoRussia,tothecountry.InPetersburgVronskyintendedtoarrangeapartitionofthelandwithhisbrother,whileAnnameanttoseeherson.ThesummertheyintendedtospendonVronsky’sgreatfamilyestate.
