           AlexeyAlexandrovitch,seeingVronsky’stears,feltarushofthatnervousemotionalwaysproducedinhimbythesightofotherpeople’ssuffering,andturningawayhisface,hemovedhurriedlytothedoor,withouthearingtherestofhiswords.FromthebedroomcamethesoundofAnna’svoicesayingsomething.Hervoicewaslively,eager,withexceedinglydistinctintonations.AlexeyAlexandrovitchwentintothebedroom,andwentuptothebed.Shewaslyingturnedwithherfacetowardshim.Hercheekswereflushedcrimson,hereyesglittered,herlittlewhitehandsthrustoutfromthesleevesofherdressinggownwereplayingwiththequilt,twistingitabout.Itseemedasthoughshewerenotonlywellandblooming,butinthehappiestframeofmind.Shewastalkingrapidly,musically,andwithexceptionallycorrectarticulationandexpressiveintonation.
