           Someoftheverypeasantswhohadbeenmostactiveinwranglingwithhimoverthehay,somewhomhehadtreatedwithcontumely,andwhohadtriedtocheathim,thoseverypeasantshadgreetedhimgood-humoredly,andevidentlyhadnot,wereincapableofhavinganyfeelingofrancoragainsthim,anyregret,anyrecollectionevenofhavingtriedtodeceivehim.Allthatwasdrownedinaseaofmerrycommonlabor.Godgavetheday,Godgavethestrength.Andthedayandthestrengthwereconsecratedtolabor,andthatlaborwasitsownreward.Forwhomthelabor?Whatwouldbeitsfruits?Thesewereidleconsiderationsbesidethepoint.
