           Chichagóv,oneofthemostzealous“cutters-off”and“breakers-up,”whohadfirstwantedtoeffectadiversioninGreeceandtheninWarsawbutneverwishedtogowherehewassent:Chichagóv,notedfortheboldnesswithwhichhespoketotheEmperor,andwhoconsideredKutúzovtobeunderanobligationtohimbecausewhenhewassenttomakepeacewithTurkeyin1811independentlyofKutúzov,andfoundthatpeacehadalreadybeenconcluded,headmittedtotheEmperorthatthemeritofsecuringthatpeacewasreallyKutúzov’s;thisChichagóvwasthefirsttomeetKutúzovatthecastlewherethelatterwastostay.
