           Theofficers,asusual,livedintwosandthreesintheroofless,half-ruinedhouses.Theseniorstriedtocollectstrawandpotatoesand,ingeneral,foodforthemen.Theyoungeronesoccupiedthemselvesasbefore,someplayingcards(therewasplentyofmoney,thoughtherewasnofood),somewithmoreinnocentgames,suchasquoitsandskittles.
