           Thesamehappy,rapturousfacesturnedtotheshaggyfigureofDenísov.

           “DarlingDenísov!”screamedNatásha,besideherselfwithrapture,springingtohim,puttingherarmsroundhim,andkissinghim.Thisescapademadeeverybodyfeelconfused.Denísovblushedtoo,butsmiledand,takingNatásha’shand,kissedit.

           Denísovwasshowntotheroompreparedforhim,andtheRostóvsallgatheredroundNicholasinthesittingroom.

           “Hallo,Gwíska—mypipe!”cameVasíliDenísov’shuskyvoice.
