           “Wedrovethemback!”saidBoríswithanimation,growingtalkative.“Canyouimagineit?”andhebegandescribinghowtheGuards,havingtakenuptheirpositionandseeingtroopsbeforethem,thoughttheywereAustrians,andallatoncediscoveredfromthecannonballsdischargedbythosetroopsthattheywerethemselvesinthefrontlineandhadunexpectedlytogointoaction.RostóvwithouthearingBorístotheendspurredhishorse.

           “Whereareyouoffto?”askedBorís.
