           Shedidnottalkaboutherbrother,divertingtheconversationassoonasherauntmentionedAndrew.EvidentlyshecouldspeakofRussia’smisfortuneswithacertainartificiality,butherbrotherwastoonearherheartandsheneithercouldnorwouldspeaklightlyofhim.Nicholasnoticedthis,ashenoticedeveryshadeofPrincessMary’scharacterwithanobservationunusualtohim,andeverythingconfirmedhisconvictionthatshewasaquiteunusualandextraordinarybeing.
