           RarelyhadNatáshaexperiencedsojoyfulafeelingasnow,sittinginthecarriagebesidethecountessandgazingattheslowlyrecedingwallsofforsaken,agitatedMoscow.Occasionallysheleanedoutofthecarriagewindowandlookedbackandthenforwardatthelongtrainofwoundedinfrontofthem.AlmostattheheadofthelineshecouldseetheraisedhoodofPrinceAndrew’scalèche.Shedidnotknowwhowasinit,buteachtimeshelookedattheprocessionhereyessoughtthatcalèche.
