           Iwenttothedoor. Dr.Sewardwasrestingonthemattress,andseeingme,hesprangtohisfeet. 

           "Isanythingwrong?"heasked,inalarm. 

           "No,"Ireplied."ButMinawantstoseeDr.VanHelsingatonce." 

           "Iwillgo,"hesaid,andhurriedintotheProfessor’sroom. 

           TwoorthreeminuteslaterVanHelsingwasintheroominhisdressinggown,andMr.MorrisandLordGodalmingwerewithDr.Sewardatthedooraskingquestions. WhentheProfessorsawMinaasmile,apositivesmileoustedtheanxietyofhisface. 

           Herubbedhishandsashesaid, "Oh,mydearMadamMina,thisisindeedachange. See! FriendJonathan,wehavegotourdearMadamMina,asofold,backtoustoday!" Thenturningtoher,hesaidcheerfully, "AndwhatamItodoforyou? Foratthishouryoudonotwantmefornothing." 

           "Iwantyoutohypnotizeme!"shesaid. "Doitbeforethedawn,forIfeelthatthenIcanspeak,andspeakfreely. Bequick,forthetimeisshort!" Withoutawordhemotionedhertositupinbed. 

           Lookingfixedlyather,hecommencedtomakepassesinfrontofher,fromoverthetopofherheaddownward,witheachhandinturn. Minagazedathimfixedlyforafewminutes,duringwhichmyownheartbeatlikeatriphammer,forIfeltthatsomecrisiswasathand. Graduallyhereyesclosed,andshesat,stockstill. Onlybythegentleheavingofherbosomcouldoneknowthatshewasalive. TheProfessormadeafewmorepassesandthenstopped,andIcouldseethathisforeheadwascoveredwithgreatbeadsofperspiration.
