           Ithoughtthatthelongerthiswentonthewilderhewouldget,andsowouldbringonafit,soItookhimbythehandandraisedhimup.

           Hesuddenlystoppedandlookedatmeintentlyforseveralmoments. Then,withoutaword,heroseandmovingover,satdownonthesideofthebed. Thecollapsehadcome,asonformeroccasions,justasIhadexpected. 

           WhenIwasleavingtheroom,lastofourparty,hesaidtomeinaquiet,well-bredvoice, "Youwill,Itrust,Dr.Seward,domethejusticetobearinmind,lateron,thatIdidwhatIcouldtoconvinceyoutonight."
