           StepanArkadyevitchhadgonedowntohisroom,undressed,againwashed,andattiredinanightshirtwithgofferedfrills,hehadgotintobed,butLevinstilllingeredinhisroom,talkingofvarioustriflingmatters,andnotdaringtoaskwhathewantedtoknow.

           “Howwonderfullytheymakethissoap,”hesaidgazingatapieceofsoaphewashandling,whichAgafeaMihalovnahadputreadyforthevisitorbutOblonskyhadnotused.“Onlylook;why,it’saworkofart.”

           “Yes,everything’sbroughttosuchapitchofperfectionnowadays,”saidStepanArkadyevitch,withamoistandblissfulyawn.“Thetheater,forinstance,andtheentertainments...aaa!”heyawned.“Theelectriclighteverywhere...aaa!”
