           Forthefirstmomentonly,VronskywasstartledaftertheimpressionofaquitedifferentworldthathehadbroughtwithhimfromMoscow.Butimmediatelyasthoughslippinghisfeetintooldslippers,hedroppedbackintothelight-hearted,pleasantworldhehadalwayslivedin.
