           “Rollinginwealththeymaybe,butthreepotsofoatswasalltheygaveus.Everythingcleareduptilltherewasn’tagrainleftbycockcrow.Whatarethreepots?Ameremouthful!Andoatsnowdowntoforty-fivekopecks.Atourplace,nofear,allcomersmayhaveasmuchastheycaneat.”

           “Themaster’sascrew,”putinthecounting-houseclerk.

           “Well,didyouliketheirhorses?”askedDolly.

           “Thehorses!there’snotwoopinionsaboutthem.Andthefoodwasgood.Butitseemedtomesortofdrearythere,DaryaAlexandrovna.Idon’tknowwhatyouthought,”hesaid,turninghishandsome,good-naturedfacetoher.

           “Ithoughtsotoo.Well,shallwegethomebyevening?”

           “Eh,wemust!”
