           “Howquicklyworkgetsdonewithyou!”saidSviazhsky.“WhenIwasherelasttimetheroofwasnoton.”

           “Bytheautumnitwillallbeready.Insidealmosteverythingisdone,”saidAnna.

           “Andwhat’sthisnewbuilding?”

           “That’sthehouseforthedoctorandthedispensary,”answeredVronsky,seeingthearchitectinashortjacketcomingtowardshim;andexcusinghimselftotheladies,hewenttomeethim.

           Goingroundaholewheretheworkmenwereslakinglime,hestoodstillwiththearchitectandbegantalkingratherwarmly.

           “Thefrontisstilltoolow,”hesaidtoAnna,whohadaskedwhatwasthematter.

           “Isaidthefoundationoughttoberaised,”saidAnna.

           “Yes,ofcourseitwouldhavebeenmuchbetter,AnnaArkadyevna,”saidthearchitect,“butnowit’stoolate.”

           “Yes,Itakeagreatinterestinit,”AnnaansweredSviazhsky,whowasexpressinghissurpriseatherknowledgeofarchitecture.
