Godalmingtoldtheshippersthathefanciedthattheboxsentaboardmightcontainsomethingstolenfromafriendofhis,andgotahalfconsentthathemightopenitathisownrisk. TheownergavehimapapertellingtheCaptaintogivehimeveryfacilityindoingwhateverhechoseonboardtheship,andalsoasimilarauthorizationtohisagentatVarna. Wehaveseentheagent,whowasmuchimpressedwithGodalming’skindlymannertohim,andweareallsatisfiedthatwhateverhecandotoaidourwisheswillbedone.
