           Idrewnearandlooked. Thecoffinwasempty. Itwascertainlyasurprisetome,andgavemeaconsiderableshock,butVanHelsingwasunmoved. Hewasnowmoresurethaneverofhisground,andsoemboldenedtoproceedinhistask. "Areyousatisfiednow,friendJohn?"heasked. 

           IfeltallthedoggedargumentativenessofmynatureawakewithinmeasIansweredhim, "IamsatisfiedthatLucy’sbodyisnotinthatcoffin,butthatonlyprovesonething."

           "Perhapsabody-snatcher,"Isuggested. "Someoftheundertaker’speoplemayhavestolenit." IfeltthatIwasspeakingfolly,andyetitwastheonlyrealcausewhichIcouldsuggest. 

           TheProfessorsighed. "Ahwell!"hesaid,"wemusthavemoreproof.Comewithme."
