Sincehelivedsixtimesasmanyworking-daysasSundays,Oak’sappearanceinhisoldclotheswasmostpeculiarlyhisown—thementalpictureformedbyhisneighboursinimagininghimbeingalwaysdressedinthatway.Heworealow-crownedfelthat,spreadoutatthebasebytightjammingupontheheadforsecurityinhighwinds,andacoatlikeDr.
