           Kitwasnosluggardnextmorning,but,springingfromhisbedsometimebeforeday,begantoprepareforhiswelcomeexpedition.Thehurryofspiritsconsequentupontheeventsofyesterday,andtheunexpectedintelligencehehadheardatnight,hadtroubledhissleepthroughthelongdarkhours,andsummonedsuchuneasydreamsabouthispillowthatitwasbesttorise.

           But,haditbeenthebeginningofsomegreatlabourwiththesameendinviewhaditbeenthecommencementofalongjourney,tobeperformedonfootinthatinclementseasonoftheyear,tobepursuedunderveryprivationanddifficulty,andtobeachievedonlywithgreatdistress,fatigue,andsufferinghaditbeenthedawnofsomepainfulenterprise,certaintotaskhisutmostpowersofresolutionandendurance,andtoneedhisutmostfortitude,butonlylikelytoend,ifhappilyachieved,ingoodfortuneanddelighttoNellKit’scheerfulzealwouldhavebeenashighlyroused:Kit’sardourandimpatiencewouldhavebeen,atleast,thesame.
