           ItbehovesustoleaveKitforawhile,thoughtfulandexpectant,andtofollowthefortunesoflittleNell;resumingthethreadofthenarrativeatthepointwhereitwasleft,somechaptersback.

           Inoneofthosewanderingsintheeveningtime,when,followingthetwosistersatahumbledistance,shefelt,inhersympathywiththemandherrecognitionintheirtrialsofsomethingakintoherownlonelinessofspirit,acomfortandconsolationwhichmadesuchmomentsatimeofdeepdelight,thoughthesoftenedpleasuretheyyieldedwasofthatkindwhichlivesanddiesintearsinoneofthosewanderingsatthequiethouroftwilight,whensky,andearth,andair,andripplingwater,andsoundofdistantbells,claimedkindredwiththeemotionsofthesolitarychild,andinspiredherwithsoothingthoughts,butnotofachild’sworldoritseasyjoysinoneofthoserambleswhichhadnowbecomeheronlypleasureorrelieffromcare,lighthadfadedintodarknessandeveningdeepenedintonight,andstilltheyoungcreaturelingeredinthegloom;feelingacompanionshipinNaturesosereneandstill,whennoiseoftonguesandglareofgarishlightswouldhavebeensolitudeindeed.

           Thesistershadgonehome,andshewasalone.Sheraisedhereyestothebrightstars,lookingdownsomildlyfromthewideworldsofair,and,gazingonthem,foundnewstarsburstuponherview,andmorebeyond,andmorebeyondagain,untilthewholegreatexpansesparkledwithshiningspheres,risinghigherandhigherinimmeasurablespace,eternalintheirnumbersasintheirchangelessandincorruptibleexistence.
