           Butwhenthispassedaway,whenherspiritsbecamecollected,whenshesawthattotheperfectgood-breedingofthegentleman,heunitedfranknessandvivacity,andaboveall,whensheheardhimdeclare,thatofmusicanddancinghewaspassionatelyfond,shegavehimsuchalookofapprobationassecuredthelargestshareofhisdiscoursetoherselffortherestofhisstay.

           Itwasonlynecessarytomentionanyfavouriteamusementtoengagehertotalk.Shecouldnotbesilentwhensuchpointswereintroduced,andshehadneithershynessnorreserveintheirdiscussion.Theyspeedilydiscoveredthattheirenjoymentofdancingandmusicwasmutual,andthatitarosefromageneralconformityofjudgmentinallthatrelatedtoeither.Encouragedbythistoafurtherexaminationofhisopinions,sheproceededtoquestionhimonthesubjectofbooks;herfavouriteauthorswerebroughtforwardanddweltuponwithsorapturousadelight,thatanyyoungmanoffiveandtwentymusthavebeeninsensibleindeed,nottobecomeanimmediateconverttotheexcellenceofsuchworks,howeverdisregardedbefore.Theirtastewasstrikinglyalike.Thesamebooks,thesamepassageswereidolizedbyeach—orifanydifferenceappeared,anyobjectionarose,itlastednolongerthantilltheforceofherargumentsandthebrightnessofhereyescouldbedisplayed.Heacquiescedinallherdecisions,caughtallherenthusiasm;andlongbeforehisvisitconcluded,theyconversedwiththefamiliarityofalong-establishedacquaintance.
