           SirJohncalledonthemassoonasthenextintervaloffairweatherthatmorningallowedhimtogetoutofdoors;andMarianne’saccidentbeingrelatedtohim,hewaseagerlyaskedwhetherheknewanygentlemanofthenameofWilloughbyatAllenham.

           "Willoughby!"criedSirJohn;"what,isHEinthecountry?Thatisgoodnewshowever;Iwillrideovertomorrow,andaskhimtodinneronThursday."

           "Youknowhimthen,"saidMrs.Dashwood.

           "Knowhim!tobesureIdo.Why,heisdownhereeveryyear."

           "Andwhatsortofayoungmanishe?"

           "Asgoodakindoffellowaseverlived,Iassureyou.Averydecentshot,andthereisnotabolderriderinEngland."

           SirJohnwasratherpuzzled.
