Thisallusiontotheprofessionalpursuitsoftheoratorwasreceivedwithastormofdelight,which,withabell-accompaniment,renderedtheremainderofhisspeechinaudible,withtheexceptionoftheconcludingsentence,inwhichhethankedthemeetingforthepatientattentionwithwhichtheyheardhimthroughout—anexpressionofgratitudewhichelicitedanotherburstofmirth,ofaboutaquarterofanhour’sduration.
