           Thefatboy,whohadbeeneffectuallyrousedbythecompressionofaportionofhislegbetweenthefingerandthumbofMr.Winkle,rolledofftheboxonceagain,andproceededtounpackthehamperwithmoreexpeditionthancouldhavebeenexpectedfromhispreviousinactivity.

           ‘Nowwemustsitclose,’saidthestoutgentleman.Afteragreatmanyjokesaboutsqueezingtheladies’sleeves,andavastquantityofblushingatsundryjocoseproposals,thattheladiesshouldsitinthegentlemen’slaps,thewholepartywerestoweddowninthebarouche;andthestoutgentlemanproceededtohandthethingsfromthefatboy(whohadmountedupbehindforthepurpose)intothecarriage.

           ‘Now,Joe,knivesandforks.’Theknivesandforkswerehandedin,andtheladiesandgentlemeninside,andMr.Winkleonthebox,wereeachfurnishedwiththoseusefulinstruments.

           ‘Plates,Joe,plates.’Asimilarprocessemployedinthedistributionofthecrockery.

           ‘Now,Joe,thefowls.Damnthatboy;he’sgonetosleepagain.
