WehavesaidinwalkedMr.JobTrotter,butthestatementisnotdistinguishedbyourusualscrupulousadherencetofact.ThedooropenedandMr.Trotterappeared.Hewouldhavewalkedin,andwasintheveryactofdoingso,indeed,whencatchingsightofMr.Weller,heinvoluntarilyshrankbackapaceortwo,andstoodgazingontheunexpectedscenebeforehim,perfectlymotionlesswithamazementandterror.
