           ThenextthreeorfourdayswereoccupiedwiththepreparationswhichwerenecessaryfortheirjourneytotheboroughofEatanswill.Asanyreferencestothatmostimportantundertakingdemandsaseparatechapter,wemaydevotethefewlineswhichremainatthecloseofthis,tonarrate,withgreatbrevity,thehistoryoftheantiquariandiscovery.

           ItappearsfromtheTransactionsoftheClub,then,thatMr.PickwicklectureduponthediscoveryataGeneralClubMeeting,convenedonthenightsucceedingtheirreturn,andenteredintoavarietyofingeniousanderuditespeculationsonthemeaningoftheinscription.Italsoappearsthataskilfulartistexecutedafaithfuldelineationofthecuriosity,whichwasengravenonstone,andpresentedtotheRoyalAntiquarianSociety,andotherlearnedbodies:thatheart-burningsandjealousieswithoutnumberwerecreatedbyrivalcontroversieswhichwerepenneduponthesubject;andthatMr.
