Theoldladywasverypreciseandveryparticular;andasthisceremonyhadbeenobservedforthreesuccessivesummerswithouttheslightestdeviationfromtheaccustomedform,shewasnotalittlesurprisedonthisparticularmorningtoseethefatboy,insteadofleavingthearbour,walkafewpacesoutofit,lookcarefullyroundhimineverydirection,andreturntowardsherwithgreatstealthandanairofthemostprofoundmystery.
Theoldladywastimorous—mostoldladiesare—andherfirstimpressionwasthatthebloatedladwasabouttodohersomegrievousbodilyharmwiththeviewofpossessinghimselfofherloosecoin.
