           Mr.Pickwickhimselfcontinuedtoresideinhisnewhouse,employinghisleisurehoursinarrangingthememorandawhichheafterwardspresentedtothesecretaryoftheoncefamousclub,orinhearingSamWellerreadaloud,withsuchremarksassuggestedthemselvestohismind,whichneverfailedtoaffordMr.Pickwickgreatamusement.Hewasmuchtroubledatfirst,bythenumerousapplicationsmadetohimbyMr.Snodgrass,Mr.Winkle,andMr.Trundle,toactasgodfathertotheiroffspring;buthehasbecomeusedtoitnow,andofficiatesasamatterofcourse.HeneverhadoccasiontoregrethisbountytoMr.Jingle;forboththatpersonandJobTrotterbecame,intime,worthymembersofsociety,althoughtheyhavealwayssteadilyobjectedtoreturntothescenesoftheiroldhauntsandtemptations.Mr.Pickwickissomewhatinfirmnow;butheretainsallhisformerjuvenilityofspirit,andmaystillbefrequentlyseen,contemplatingthepicturesintheDulwichGallery,orenjoyingawalkaboutthepleasantneighbourhoodonafineday.Heisknownbyallthepoorpeopleabout,whoneverfailtotaketheirhatsoff,ashepasses,withgreatrespect
