ThenextdaytherewasanothervisittoDoctors’Commons,andagreatto-dowithanattestinghostler,who,beinginebriated,declinedswearinganythingbutprofaneoaths,tothegreatscandalofaproctorandsurrogate.Nextweek,thereweremorevisitstoDoctors’Commons,andtherewasavisittotheLegacyDutyOfficebesides,andthereweretreatiesenteredinto,forthedisposaloftheleaseandbusiness,andratificationsofthesame,andinventoriestobemadeout,andlunchestobetaken,anddinnerstobeeaten,andsomanyprofitablethingstobedone,andsuchamassofpapersaccumulatedthatMr.SolomonPell,andtheboy,andthebluebagtoboot,allgotsostoutthatscarcelyanybodywouldhaveknownthemforthesameman,boy,andbag,thathadloiteredaboutPortugalStreet,afewdaysbefore.
