           ‘Yes,Ithoughtitwasyours,’saidMrSparkler.

           ‘Thenyoushouldn’task,’retortedFanny.Afteralittlewhilesheturnedonhersofaandexclaimed,‘Dearme,dearme,thereneverwassuchalongdayasthis!’Afteranotherlittlewhile,shegotupslowly,walkedabout,andcamebackagain.

           ‘Mydear,’saidMrSparkler,flashingwithanoriginalconception,‘Ithinkyoumusthavegotthefidgets.’

           ‘Oh,Fidgets!’repeatedMrsSparkler.‘Don’t.’

           ‘Myadorablegirl,’urgedMrSparkler,‘tryyouraromaticvinegar.Ihaveoftenseenmymothertryit,anditseeminglyrefreshedher.

           Andsheis,asIbelieveyouareaware,aremarkablyfinewoman,withnonon—’

           ‘GoodGracious!’exclaimedFanny,startingupagain.‘It’sbeyondallpatience!Thisisthemostwearisomedaythateverdiddawnupontheworld,Iamcertain.’

           MrSparklerlookedmeeklyafterherassheloungedabouttheroom,andheappearedtobealittlefrightened.
