           TheCowperwoodfamilywasbythistimeestablishedinitsnewandlargerandmoretastefullyfurnishedhouseonNorthFrontStreet,facingtheriver.Thehousewasfourstoriestallandstoodtwenty-fivefeetonthestreetfront,withoutayard.

           Andhereitwas,duringthefirstyearofthenewlifeinthishouse,thatFrankmetacertainMrs.Semple,whointerestedhimgreatly.
