ElizaandGeorgiana,evidentlyactingaccordingtoorders,spoketomeaslittleaspossible:Johnthrusthistongueinhischeekwheneverhesawme,andonceattemptedchastisement;butasIinstantlyturnedagainsthim,rousedbythesamesentimentofdeepireanddesperaterevoltwhichhadstirredmycorruptionbefore,hethoughtitbettertodesist,andranfrommetitteringexecrations,andvowingIhadbursthisnose. Ihadindeedlevelledatthatprominentfeatureashardablowasmyknucklescouldinflict;andwhenIsawthateitherthatormylookdauntedhim,Ihadthegreatestinclinationtofollowupmyadvantagetopurpose;buthewasalreadywithhismama.
