Thephoenixwastolet,onthiselevatedperch,whenMrDorrit,whohadlatelysucceededtohisproperty,mentionedtohisbankersthathewishedtodiscoveralady,well-bred,accomplished,wellconnected,wellaccustomedtogoodsociety,whowasqualifiedatoncetocompletetheeducationofhisdaughters,andtobetheirmatronorchaperon.MrDorrit’sbankers,asbankersofthecounty-widower,instantlysaid,‘MrsGeneral.
