           Shewassoconfidentinherexpositionofthecase,anditwassoundeniablyfoundedoncorrectpremisesinsofarastherelativepositionsofLittleDorritandherfamilywereconcerned,thatClennamcouldnotfeelpositiveontheotherside.HehadcometoattachtoLittleDorritaninterestsopeculiar—aninterestthatremovedherfrom,whileitgrewoutof,thecommonandcoarsethingssurroundingher—thathefounditdisappointing,disagreeable,almostpainful,tosupposeherinlovewithyoungMrChiveryintheback-yard,oranysuchperson.Ontheotherhand,hereasonedwithhimselfthatshewasjustasgoodandjustastrueinlovewithhim,asnotinlovewithhim;andthattomakeakindofdomesticatedfairyofher,onthepenaltyofisolationatheartfromtheonlypeoplesheknew,wouldbebutaweaknessofhisownfancy,andnotakindone.
