           Shehadalltheheroismofprinciple,andwasdeterminedtodoherduty;buthavingalsomanyofthefeelingsofyouthandnature,lethernotbemuchwonderedat,if,aftermakingallthesegoodresolutionsonthesideofself-government,sheseizedthescrapofpaperonwhichEdmundhadbegunwritingtoher,asatreasurebeyondallherhopes,andreadingwiththetenderestemotionthesewords,“MyverydearFanny,youmustdomethefavourtoaccept”lockeditupwiththechain,asthedearestpartofthegift.Itwastheonlythingapproachingtoaletterwhichshehadeverreceivedfromhim;shemightneverreceiveanother;itwasimpossiblethatsheevershouldreceiveanothersoperfectlygratifyingintheoccasionandthestyle.
