           AverycordialmeetingpassedbetweenhimandEdmund;andwiththeexceptionofFanny,thepleasurewasgeneral;andeventohertheremightbesomeadvantageinhispresence,sinceeveryadditiontothepartymustratherforwardherfavouriteindulgenceofbeingsufferedtositsilentandunattendedto.Shewassoonawareofthisherself;forthoughshemustsubmit,asherownproprietyofminddirected,inspiteofherauntNorris’sopinion,tobeingtheprincipalladyincompany,andtoallthelittledistinctionsconsequentthereon,shefound,whiletheywereattable,suchahappyflowofconversationprevailing,inwhichshewasnotrequiredtotakeanypart—therewassomuchtobesaidbetweenthebrotherandsisteraboutBath,somuchbetweenthetwoyoungmenabouthunting,somuchofpoliticsbetweenMr.CrawfordandDr.Grant,andofeverythingandalltogetherbetweenMr.CrawfordandMrs.Grant,astoleaveherthefairestprospectofhavingonlytolisteninquiet,andofpassingaveryagreeableday.Shecouldnotcomplimentthenewlyarrivedgentleman,however,withanyappearanceofinterest,inaschemeforextendinghisstayatMansfield,andsendingforhishuntersfromNorfolk,which,suggestedbyDr.Grant,advisedbyEdmund,andwarmlyurgedbythetwosisters,wassooninpossessionofhismind,andwhichheseemedtowanttobeencouragedevenbyhertoresolveon.Heropinionwassoughtastotheprobablecontinuanceoftheopenweather,butheranswerswereasshortandindifferentascivilityallowed.Shecouldnotwishhimtostay,andwouldmuchrathernothavehimspeaktoher.
