           Here,everynight,thechildwastoo,unseenbythem,unthoughtof,unregarded;butfeelingasiftheywereherfriends,asiftheyhadconfidencesandtruststogether,asifherloadwerelightenedandlesshardtobear;asiftheymingledtheirsorrows,andfoundmutualconsolation.Itwasaweakfancyperhaps,thechildishfancyofayoungandlonelycreature;butnightafternight,andstillthesistersloiteredinthesameplace,andstillthechildfollowedwithamildandsoftenedheart.

           Shewasmuchstartled,onreturninghomeonenight,tofindthatMrsJarleyhadcommandedanannouncementtobeprepared,totheeffectthatthestupendouscollectionwouldonlyremaininitspresentquartersonedaylonger;infulfilmentofwhichthreat(forallannouncementsconnectedwithpublicamusementsarewellknowntobeirrevocableandmostexact),thestupendouscollectionshutupnextday.

           ‘Arewegoingfromthisplacedirectly,ma’am?’saidNell.

           ‘Lookhere,child,’returnedMrsJarley.‘That’llinformyou.’AndsosayingMrsJarleyproducedanotherannouncement,whereinitwasstated,that,inconsequenceofnumerousinquiriesatthewax-workdoor,andinconsequenceofcrowdshavingbeendisappointedinobtainingadmission,theExhibitionwouldbecontinuedforoneweeklonger,andwouldre-opennextday.

           ‘Fornowthattheschoolsaregone,andtheregularsight-seersexhausted,’saidMrsJarley,‘wecometotheGeneralPublic,andtheywantstimulating.
