           “Aw,”hesaid,“whatareyoulookingsoblueabout?Comeonouttobreakfast.Youwanttogetyourotherclothesto-day.”

           Carrielookedathimwiththehueofshiftingthoughtinherlargeeyes.

           “IwishIcouldgetsomethingtodo,”shesaid.

           “You’llgetthatallright,”saidDrouet.“What’stheuseworryingrightnow?Getyourselffixedup.Seethecity.Iwon’thurtyou.”

           “Iknowyouwon’t,”sheremarked,halftruthfully.

           “Gotonthenewshoes,haven’tyou?Stick’emout.George,theylookfine.Putonyourjacket.”

           Carrieobeyed.
