           Hetookthatupastheywalkedalongtheavenue.Itwasawarmafternoon.Thesunhadcomeoutandthewindhaddieddown.AshetalkedwithCarrie,hesecuredanaccuratedetailoftheatmosphereoftheflat.

           “Comeoutofit,”hesaid,“theywon’tcare.I’llhelpyougetalong.”

           Shelisteneduntilhermisgivingsvanished.Hewouldshowheraboutalittleandthenhelphergetsomething.Hereallyimaginedthathewould.Hewouldbeoutontheroadandshecouldbeworking.

           “Now,I’lltellyouwhatyoudo,”hesaid,“yougooutthereandgetwhateveryouwantandcomeaway.”

           Shethoughtalongtimeaboutthis.Finallysheagreed.
