           Sparserbynowhavingwonafairleadandrealizingthatastraightcoursewastheleastbafflingtopursue,turnedswiftlyintoMcGee,acomparativelyquietthoroughfarealongwhichhetoreforafewblockstothewideandwindingGillhamParkway,whosecoursewassouthward.Buthavingfollowedthatatterrificspeedforashortdistance,heagainatThirty-firstdecidedtoturnthehousesinthedistanceconfusinghimandthesuburbancountrytothenorthseemingtoofferthebestopportunityforevadinghispursuers.Andsonowheswungthecartotheleftintothatthoroughfare,histhoughtherebeingthatamidthesecomparativelyquietstreetsitwaspossibletowindinandoutandsoshakeoffpursuitatleastlongenoughtodrophispassengerssomewhereandreturnthecartothegarage.
