           Theculminationofthismeetingwasbuttheprelude,asbothClydeandRobertarealized,toaseriesofcontactsandrejoicingswhichweretoextendoveranindefiniteperiod.Theyhadfoundlove.Theyweredeliciouslyhappy,whatevertheproblemsattendingitspresentrealizationmightbe.Butthewaysandmeansofcontinuingwithitwereadifferentmatter.FornotonlywasherconnectionwiththeNewtonsabartoanynormalprocedureinsofarasClydewasconcerned,butGraceMarrherselfofferedadistinctandseparateproblem.FarmorethanRobertashewaschained,notonlybythedefectofpoorlooks,butbythenarrowteachingsanddomestictrainingofherearlysocialandreligiouslife.Yetshewantedtobegayandfree,too.AndinRoberta,who,whilegayandboastfulattimes,wasstillwellwithintheconventionsthatchainedGrace,sheimaginedthatshesawonewhowasnotsobound.AndsoitwasthatsheclungtohercloselyandasRobertasawitalittlewearisomely.Sheimaginedthattheycouldexchangeideasandjestsandconfidencesinregardtothelovelifeandtheirrespectivedreamswithoutinjurytoeachother.Andtodatethiswasheronesolaceinanotherwisegrayworld.

           ButRoberta,evenbeforethearrivalofClydeinherlife,didnotwanttobesoclungto.Itwasabore.AndafterwardsshedevelopedaninhibitioninregardtohimwhereGracewasconcerned.
