           Now,fromtheneglectofthenewhousemaid,thefireinMissColeman’sbedroomhadgoneout,andhermotherhadtoldhertobrushherhairbythedrawing-roomfire—adisorderlyproceedingwhichamother’swishcouldjustify.Theyoungladywasverylovely,thoughnotnearlysobeautifulasNorthWind;andherhairwasextremelylong,foritcamedowntoherknees—thoughthatwasnothingatalltoNorthWind’shair.Yetwhenshelookedround,withherhairallabouther,asDiamondentered,hethoughtforonemomentthatitwasNorthWind,and,pullinghishandfromMrs.Crump’s,hestretchedouthisarmsandrantowardsMissColeman.Shewassopleasedthatshethrewdownherbrush,andalmostkneltonthefloortoreceivehiminherarms.HesawthenextmomentthatshewasnotLadyNorthWind,butshelookedsolikeherhecouldnothelprunningintoherarmsandburstingintotearsafresh.Mrs
