           Helivedinalowroomoveracoach-house;andthatwasnotbyanymeansatthebackofthenorthwind,ashismotherverywellknew.Foronesideoftheroomwasbuiltonlyofboards,andtheboardsweresooldthatyoumightrunapenknifethroughintothenorthwind.Andthenletthemsettlebetweenthemwhichwasthesharper!Iknowthatwhenyoupulleditoutagainthewindwouldbeafteritlikeacatafteramouse,andyouwouldknowsoonenoughyouwerenotatthebackofthenorthwind.Still,thisroomwasnotverycold,exceptwhenthenorthwindblewstrongerthanusual:theroomIhavetodowithnowwasalwayscold,exceptinsummer,whenthesuntookthematterintohisownhands.Indeed,IamnotsurewhetherIoughttocallitaroomatall;foritwasjustaloftwheretheykepthayandstrawandoatsforthehorses.
