           Althoughthereweremanypeoplehere,noneofthebestfavouredorbestclad,busilyerectingtentsanddrivingstakesintheground,andhurryingtoandfrowithdustyfeetandmanyagrumbledoathalthoughthereweretiredchildrencradledonheapsofstrawbetweenthewheelsofcarts,cryingthemselvestosleepandpoorleanhorsesanddonkeysjustturnedloose,grazingamongthemenandwomen,andpotsandkettles,andhalf-lightedfires,andendsofcandlesflaringandwastingintheairforallthis,thechildfeltitanescapefromthetownanddrewherbreathmorefreely.Afterascantysupper,thepurchaseofwhichreducedherlittlestocksolow,thatshehadonlyafewhalfpencewithwhichtobuyabreakfastonthemorrow,sheandtheoldmanlaydowntorestinacornerofatent,andslept,despitethebusypreparationsthatweregoingonaroundthemallnightlong.
